Is Candy AI worth paying for, or is it one more chatbot with a nice homepage? That's the real question, so let me answer it up front. After reading through its plans, its terms and every feature page it has, I think it's the most complete AI girlfriend app you can buy right now. It is not the cheapest way to simply chat, though, and that difference runs through this whole review.

What Candy AI is

It's made by EverAI, a company on the books in Malta. You either grab a ready-made companion from the gallery or build your own: realistic or anime, her face, her style, her personality. Then you talk. She texts back, sends photos of herself when you ask, and picks up when you call.

It's for adults. Adult chat and pictures exist on Candy, but you're the one steering: keep it to flirting and good-morning texts and that's what you get.

Is Candy AI free?

Barely. A new account comes with 5 messages. Enough to hear how she talks and decide if you click with her, and then you hit the paywall. Pictures, voice and video were never free to begin with.

So if a daily free AI girlfriend is the goal, look elsewhere first. Nomi AI does 50 messages a day; Character.AI does unlimited, with ads. Candy is the one you pay for, because it does more once you do.

Three ways to pay. The gap between them is bigger than it looks.

That 12-month plan is honestly why Candy sits at the top of my rankings. $3.99 a month undercuts Nomi ($8.33 on its yearly plan) and OurDream AI ($9.99 yearly), and it still comes with tokens for pictures and calls every month. The price of that price: $47.88 up front. Not ready for a year? Three months at $8.99 a month is a fair compromise. Month to month I'd only use for a short look, since the $9.99 first month rolls into $13.99 after.

Every paid plan comes with unlimited messages and a monthly batch of tokens (Candy's terms say generally 100) for photos, calls and video. Tokens you don't use expire at the end of the billing period, so there's no point hoarding them.

And yes, people ask: your card statement says EverAI. No mention of Candy, no mention of girlfriends.

Chat is the backbone, and staying in character is the thing it's tuned for: you decide who she is and she keeps that voice going. Photos are where Candy leaves the text-first apps behind. Ask and she'll send a picture of the companion you actually built, not a random face from a stock library.

On the fence? Make your first paid test a voice call. Hearing her answer out loud changes how the whole thing feels, and calls come out of the monthly tokens that every paid plan includes. Video is short clips of her, not a live video call. Set your expectations there and you won't be let down.

Is Candy AI safe and legit?

Real company (EverAI, Malta), published terms, a privacy policy, a discreet billing name. Nothing on the pricing pages struck me as a trick.

Same rules as any companion app, though. Your full name, your address, your workplace: keep them out of the chat. Whatever you type ends up on their servers, as it does everywhere on this list.

It's the best all-rounder I can point you to right now, and for what's inside, the yearly price is a genuinely good deal. Use your 5 free messages to see if there's chemistry; if there is, choose between 3 months and a year. Only want free chat? Start somewhere else, and come back when you want photos and a voice.
