Which AI girlfriend apps send photos of your companion, what it costs, and the few ways to get pictures for free.
Reader-supported: when you sign up through some of our links we may earn a commission, at no cost to you. How that works.
Text is nice. Then she says she just got back from the beach, and you want to see it. An AI girlfriend with pictures closes that gap: you ask, and she sends a photo of herself, or a selfie that matches the moment. I compared six apps on how they handle photos, what each one charges, and whether any of them give you pictures for free.

What each app says about pictures on its own pages, checked October 2026.
Pictures are Candy's strongest card. You build her look (realistic or anime, her face, her style), and when you ask for a photo you get her, not a random face. Every paid plan comes with a monthly allowance of tokens (generally 100, per Candy's terms) that pays for photos, calls and clips. On the 12-month plan it's $3.99/mo, which makes it the cheapest way in to an AI girlfriend that sends photos.
OurDream prices pictures in DreamCoins: 10 for two images, 5 for one inside the chat. Premium gives you 1,000 coins a month, so if pictures are all you spend them on, that's roughly 200. Calls and video come out of the same budget, so heavy callers get fewer photos. Realistic and anime styles are both there, and chat itself is unlimited on Premium.
Nomis send selfies in a range of art styles and can edit images you share with them. On the paid plan a picture can become a short video of 5, 10 or 15 seconds. The one firm rule: no nude photos, ever. If you're after a companion whose pictures stay tasteful, that's a feature, not a flaw.
Kindroid sends selfies of the character you've written, and you get to decide her look in detail. The free preview includes 5. After that it's the Standard plan, from $13.99 a month on the website (more in the apps).
Replika is built around a 3D avatar you dress yourself, and she also sends selfies on the free plan. Romantic ones stay blurred until you upgrade to Pro, which also unlocks image generation. Platinum adds short selfie videos.
On Character.AI, pictures come from Imagine, which sketches moments from a conversation. There's a free allowance, and extra images cost the app's own currency. It isn't a girlfriend photo feature (you're not getting selfies of a companion you designed, and the content rules are strict), but it's the only real free option here.
Think of each app as an AI girlfriend photo generator with one model: her. None of these photos are real people. When you ask for a selfie, the app generates a new image of the companion you built (her face, her style, the outfit you mention) and drops it into the chat. The good apps keep her looking like the same person from one picture to the next. The weaker ones give you a stranger every time.
Most apps let you choose between a realistic look and an anime one, and a few, like Nomi, offer several art styles on top. You usually ask in plain words: a photo at the beach, a selfie before dinner, a picture of her new haircut.
Short answer: a few, in small doses. Photos of your own companion on demand are paid on every app I'd recommend. Free options look like this:
Here for the pictures? Then it's worth paying a little. Candy AI's yearly plan, at $3.99/mo, comes with monthly tokens for photos, calls and video.
Candy AI and OurDream AI both do realistic and anime companions, so you can switch your mind later without switching apps. Nomi goes further on art styles and can edit images you send. Replika is the outlier: most of what you see of her is the 3D avatar you dress up in the app.
The image generator side is priced two ways, and they suit different people. Candy AI gives every paid plan a monthly batch of tokens (generally 100) to spend on photos, calls and video; leftovers expire at the end of the billing period. OurDream AI charges in DreamCoins: 10 coins for 2 images, 5 for a picture inside the chat, out of 1,000 coins a month on Premium. If you only spent coins on images, that's about 200 pictures a month. Spend them on calls and video and the number drops fast.
Some apps let you upload someone's photo and generate pictures of them. We don't cover those features or the apps built around them. Everything on this page is about images of a companion you create, not of anyone who exists.
The usual privacy point applies too. Every picture is generated and stored on the app's servers, so treat your gallery like your chats: private to you, but not invisible.
Candy AI. You design her look, ask for a photo in the chat, and get a picture of that companion, realistic or anime, paid from the tokens every plan includes.
Only in small amounts. Character.AI's Imagine has a free allowance, Replika sends non-romantic selfies for free, and Kindroid's one-time preview includes 5 selfies.
On Candy AI they come out of a monthly token allowance (generally 100 tokens) that every paid plan includes, from $3.99/mo on the yearly plan. On OurDream AI two images cost 10 coins out of 1,000 a month on Premium.
Yes. Candy AI and OurDream AI both offer realistic and anime styles, and the photos show the companion you created, not a real person.
Yes, selfies in several art styles, and it can edit images. It doesn't send nude photos.
