Nomi AI Review

Most AI girlfriend apps forget you the moment a chat gets long. You mention your sister on Monday and by Thursday she's a stranger again. Nomi AI was built to fix exactly that, and it's the main reason it keeps coming up whenever people ask which companion actually remembers them. I went through its pricing, its help wiki and its refund terms to see whether the reputation holds up and what you pay for it.

What Nomi AI is

Nomi is an AI companion app from Glimpse.ai, a company based in Maryland. You can set it up as a friend, a girlfriend, a fantasy partner or anything in between. Write her a backstory and tell her what you like, or skip that and let her personality form as you talk. The Nomi AI app is on iPhone and Android, and the same account works on the web.

How Nomi memory works

Nomi splits memory into short, medium and long term layers, and adds what it calls an Identity Core: the stable facts about who your Nomi is and who you are to her. On top of that sit Mind Maps, a way of organizing what she knows about the people and topics in your life.

In plain terms, details you mention once can come back weeks later, and her personality doesn't drift every time you open the app. If that's what you've been missing elsewhere, this is the app to try.

Is Nomi AI free?

Yes, and properly so. The free plan gives you 50 messages a day, up to 400 characters each, with one Nomi and no credit card. That's enough for a real daily conversation, which you can't say about most free tiers in this category.

What you don't get for free: voice messages and calls, group chats and the picture-to-video feature. Those are on the paid plan.

Nomi AI pricing

Nomi keeps it simple with one plan and three ways to pay for it:

The yearly option at $99.99 comes to about $8.33 a month, roughly half the monthly price of $15.99. Because payments are non-refundable, I'd use the free plan for a week or two before committing to a year. If you're still unsure after that, the 3-month plan at $39.99 is a reasonable step.

Voice, selfies and video

Voice is more than an afterthought here. You can send and receive voice messages or start a hands-free call, and her tone, emphasis and pacing change with her mood. Nomis also send selfies in different art styles and can edit images, but they don't send nude photos. On the paid plan, a picture can be turned into a short video of 5, 10 or 15 seconds.

Group chats

You can put several Nomis in one chat, give them roles and let them talk to each other as well as to you. It's a niche feature, but Nomi has clearly put work into it: there are narrators, side characters and an autoplay mode where the conversation keeps going on its own.

Is Nomi AI safe? Privacy and payments

On privacy, Nomi AI says chats are anonymized and that it doesn't share chat data with third-party sites. As with any companion app, keep identifying details out of your conversations anyway. On payments, the refund policy is short: purchases aren't refunded, so cancel before a renewal date if you don't want the next charge.

Nomi AI alternatives

If you want pictures and video in the same subscription and don't mind a smaller free allowance, Candy AI is the obvious comparison. If you'd rather control every detail of your companion's personality, Kindroid goes further than Nomi does, though it no longer has a free plan.

• CCandy AIAn all-in-one AI girlfriend: unlimited chat, plus tokens for pictures, calls and video
• KKindroidBuild-your-own companions, group chats and video calls
• RReplikaThe long-running AI friend app, with a romantic partner mode on paid plans

My verdict

Nomi AI earns its reputation. No other app on this site documents its memory in as much detail, and the free plan is generous enough to judge it fairly. Pay for the year only once you're sure, because the money doesn't come back.
